Diagnostic Imaging
Our on-site diagnostic imaging suite is equipped with state-of-the-art digital x-ray, dental x-ray, and ultrasound machines. This allows us to perform necessary medical imaging of our patients without delay. Our priority is ensuring your pets are relaxed and comfortable throughout the entire procedure. Ensuring patient comfort allows us to obtain quality, diagnostic images.
Radiography allows us to see structures within the body, from the head to toe that otherwise we could not see. Our brand new machine is top of the line and lets us visualize with great clarity. This is important to help diagnose many problems such as:
- Chronic cough
- Heart disease
- Vomiting
- Intestinal obstructions
- Liver disease
- Kidney disease
- Arthritis and hip dysplasia.
- Bladder problems such as cancer or stones
- Bone fractures or dislocations
Ultrasound
We also have an Esaote ultrasound machine which is a specialized piece of equipment that many veterinary clinics do not have. Both Dr. Paul Francis and Dr. Kathleen Francis have attended many continuing education courses to hone their skills using this specialized machine. It allows us to view organs directly in 3-D and in real time motion. Our machine is equipped with a special feature called Coloured Doppler. This feature clearly show us the heart’s pumping ability because different speeds of blood flow show up as different colours. It is the only tool that can properly diagnose many heart diseases. Ultrasound is also ideal for assessing all abdominal organs such as the bladder (looking for stones), and the uterus (looking for babies).
Dental Xray
Our brand new dental Xray machine allows us to take top quality radiographs of the teeth that can show us hidden problems under the gumline. These issues include:
- Tooth root abscesses
- Hidden dental fractures.
- Resorptive lesions in cats
- Periodontal bone loss
